ONE SIMPLE STEP TO IMPROVE YOUR OVERALL HEALTH.
You’re probably thinking “This is going to be something blatantly obvious like, “Do more exercise” or “eat less crappy food”. And in a way, you’re right. However, while those are good pieces of advice for everyone, this requires less activity and perhaps isn’t that obvious.
Here it is then, probably the best piece of advice that I can give to anyone who is looking to improve their overall health (and I don’t say that lightly):
Spend less time on social media. Seriously.
It will mean:
Less comparison with other people's fictional "highlight reel" lifestyles.
Less comparison with other people's unrealistic "picture perfect" physiques.
Less time wasted aimlessly scrolling through stuff that you have no actual desire to look at.
Less time "learning" from "experts".
Less time exposed to negative and demoralising content.
Less time spent documenting your life.
Less time worrying about digital likes as a means of ratifying self-worth.
And it will result in:
More time enjoying your life.
More time to exercise.
More focus and productivity.
More time to learn from experts.
More competition with yourself instead of others.
More self-esteem.
More happiness.
Improved mental health.
Try it. Set a timer on your apps or delete them altogether for a bit. Spend some more time in the real world.
